UV sterilizers are for killing free floating algae and parasites. It will do nothing to remove the chlorine or chloramine in tap water. If you use city water, there is a good chance that you have or will soon have chloramine in the water. Citys are increasingly using chloramine instead of chlorine because it lasts longer in the water system. Because of this it will not off gas like chlorine will. You need to use a dechlorinater.

I don t know about killing algae, its primary pourpose is killing bacteria and pathogens harmful to the fish.It wont affect water quality or chemicals but it will prevent outbreaks of ich and such

Noit does not minimize the effects of tap water condtioner. You would probably would not even need one because it is an outdoor pond and UV sterlizers are usually used on saltwater tanks for killing bateria.

nope. wont do a thing to it. the conditioner instantaneously removes the chlorine. what it does do is kill the algae. u wil be amazed at how good a job it does. i have one on my pond, 750 gallons, and it keeps water clear. i dont even use water conditioners on pond water. when u set up pond u just need to wait a week for water to get ready. throw in a couple of cheap goldfish to start the ammonia process. buy small koi as they are cheap that way and grow fast. have fun.
